About the Newsletter

A few years ago, everyone was talking about mmWave sensors and I'd completely missed it. Even when you're active in the community, it's easy to fall behind during those weeks when life gets busy. That sparked the idea for this newsletter.

I wanted something that would keep me (and others) in the loop without needing to follow everything constantly. Every week, I go through blogs, forums, Reddit, and news sites anyway. The best stuff ends up here.

Each issue is a curated overview of the most relevant smart home news, product releases, and articles I come across. Not everything is Home Assistant-specific, but a lot of it directly impacts the HA ecosystem.

I'm Daniel, a developer based in the Netherlands. I've been deep in the smart home world for 8+ years, starting with version 0.2x of Home Assistant.

Like many others, it began with Philips Hue lights. I ambitiously started building my own home automation apps, but quickly found out that's a lot of work 😅. Then I discovered Home Assistant and all the integrations that were already available, and quickly gave up my project and never looked back.

These days I'm the developer and maintainer of a few popular Home Assistant integrations:

• Multiscrape — A flexible web scraping integration for pulling data from websites into Home Assistant
• MeasureIt — Track and measure sensor data over custom time periods
